You may have noticed that SocialHP posts typically have a link that looks like this:
https://mycompany.shp.so/a/123abc
That's our own URL shortener. It helps us track clicks on your posts and provide other important SocialHP functionality. When someone clicks a social media post that was published through your SocialHP workspace, our URL shortener records some statistical information, then immediately forwards them on to the destination URL.
For branding reasons, companies sometimes would like to use their own domain instead of shp.so, and SocialHP fully supports these custom shortener domains. You or your IT department will need to take a few steps to configure this domain.
First, choose a domain or subdomain that is not already in use for anything else. You can use a subdomain of your existing domain (e.g go.mycompany.com) or a new/unused domain (e.g. mycompany.social). You will not be able to use something like www.mycompany.com as it is very likely already used by your own company website.
If you chose a new or unused domain
1. Register it through your company's chosen domain registrar if you haven't already.
2. Edit your domain and set the nameservers to the following:
- ns1.shp.so
- ns2.shp.so
- ns3.shp.so
- ns4.shp.so
- Contact us at info@socialhp.com and we'll configure this new domain for you. We'll automatically provision an SSL/TLS certificate on our shortener for your custom domain.
If you chose an unused subdomain (e.g. go.mycompany.com)
- Add a CNAME to your DNS records that points your chosen subdomain to to customer.shp.so.
- Contact us at info@socialhp.com and we'll configure this new subdomain for you. We'll automatically provision an SSL/TLS certificate for your subdomain on our shortener for your custom subdomain.
